After choosing motherhood over her career, a spitfire radio producer suffers a tragic loss and sets out to conquer the patriarchal world of the 1930s.
MAXINE is a prequel - or, if you prefer, an origin story - to my feature screenplay, MRS. MAXINE BECKER.
The film of this script is currently in post-production.
Mrs. Maxine Becker is a black comedy about a savvy and ambitious film producer who does whatever it takes to become head of the studio in the male dominated world of 1940s Hollywood. If Shakespeare’s Lady Macbeth had been allowed to channel her ambition into her own career, instead of her husband’s, this would be her story.
While this is the newer and better version, the original version was my MFA Thesis script.
